Argent was a British rock band formed in 1969 by Rod Argent, formerly of the Zombies. The group was known for their blend of rock, pop, and progressive rock elements, creating a distinctive sound that set them apart from their contemporaries. Argent’s lineup included Rod Argent on keyboards and vocals, Russ Ballard on guitar and vocals, Jim Rodford on bass guitar, and Robert Henrit on drums.

The band’s most notable hit, “Hold Your Head Up,” released in 1972, reached the top 5 in both the UK and US charts, cementing their place in rock history. Their music often featured complex arrangements and showcased Argent’s virtuosic keyboard skills. Another popular track, “God Gave Rock and Roll to You,” further highlighted their influence on the rock genre.

Throughout their career, Argent released several albums, including “Argent” (1970), “Ring of Hands” (1971), and “All Together Now” (1972). Despite their success, the band disbanded in 1976, with members pursuing various musical projects. Argent’s legacy continues to be celebrated by rock enthusiasts, and their contributions to the genre remain influential.
